Course content
Lecture topics Introduction to the legal regulation of matrimony and education, conception of matrimony, evolution of appreciation of the goals of matrimony, theories of the inception of matrimony, kinds of matrimony. Preparation for matrimony, form of the celebration of matrimony and its defects, administration after the wedding. Interdicts of matrimony, diriment impediments of valid celebration of matrimony. Matrimonial consent and its defects. Convalidation of marriage, separation of the spouses. Declaration of nullity of marriage. Dissolution of the bond. Juridical situation of children and parents, catholic education. Catechetical instruction, Church schools. Marriage and family in the conventions between the Holy See and States. Marriage and family in the Basic Agreement between the Holy See and the Slovak Republic of 2000, in the Treaty between the Slovak Republic and Registered Churches and Religious Societies of 2002, in the Agreement between the Holy See and the Slovak Republic about Catholic Education and Schooling of 2004, in the Treaty between the Slovak Republic and Registered Churches and Religious Societies about Religious Education and Schooling of 2004, in the Law Nr. 3/2002 Coll. and in the Proposal of the Convention between the Holy See and the Czech Republic of 2002 (not yet ratified).

Learning outcomes
Basic information about the legal regulation of solemnization and existence of matrimony as well instruments of the education (especially of the religious education) in the juridical system of the greatest churches in the Czech Republic, with special focus on the law of the Catholic Church.
Students who have completed this course will gain the basic knowledge of matrimonial law of the Catholic Church.
Prerequisites
Completion of this course is not conditional upon completion of some other courses.

Assessment methods and criteria
Dialog, Seminar Work

To gain the colloquium, it is necessary the accomplishment of oral discussion in a small group of students on one of the beforehand designated topics or to compose a thesis.
