Course content
Lecture Topics: Literature and historical sources. Advocacy and notary office in the Czech lands up to the end of the 14th century. Advocacy and notary office in the Czech lands up to the 1615. Advocacy and notary office in the Czech lands in the period of absolutistic state. Advocacy and notary office in the Czech lands in the 1781-1849. Advocacy and notary office in the Czech lands in the 1849-1918, formation of the Czech democratic society. Advocacy and notary office in the Czechoslovak Republic 1918-1938. Advocacy and notary office in the Czech lands in the period of oppression 1938-1945. Advocacy and notary office in the Czechoslovak Republic 1945-1951. Period of the class Marxist advocacy and notary office 1952-1963. Period of the socialistic advocacy and notary office 1964-1976. Advocacy and notary office in the period of normalization 1976-1989. Advocacy and notary office after 1989. Seminar topics: Lawyer and politics in the period of the Thirty Year War. Advocacy and notary office in the revolutionary years 1848-1849, political activities. Formation of the legal regulations advocacy and notary office in the second half of the 19th century. The so-called popularisation of the justice, liquidation of the self-government and of the independent advocacy and notary office. Political trials. The contemporary legal regulations of the advocacy and notary office. The ethical code. Convention among the advocates of the whole world propagate the rule of the legal state and the superiority of the law over the arbitrary power (Paris 2008).

Learning outcomes
The aim of this subjekt is to provide the students with the explanation of the history of advocacy and notary office and with the importance of these legal profession for state and society. Subjekt will help the students understand the contemporary political and legal problems of these professions after accession of the Czech Republic to the EU.
Students who have completed this subjekt will gain knowledge and skills necessary for understandding of basic trends of Czech legal development in the European context.

Completion of this subjekt is not conditional upon compection of another subjekt.

In order to gain the credit the students must have an aktive attendance in the scope set by the seminar leader and meet all the other requirements set by the seminar leader.
