Learning outcomes
The course focused on the legal history of private law is the subject of the specialization Private Law. It is a course belonging to the first pillar of the programme, i.e. a course developing the student's theoretical knowledge. The course supplements the student's theoretical knowledge acquired in the Master's degree programme, in particular by detailed information concerning the historical development of private law in the territory of the present-day Czech Republic. The course is designed as a two-semester course. In the winter semester, the methodology of working with Roman and pre-enlightenment sources will be presented on selected issues. The choice of these topics was driven by the need to introduce students to the methods of historical-legal research, to prepare them well for the historical parts of their dissertations and to avoid the defects of plagiarism and the inability to do their own research, which is often replaced by the uncritical adoption of older texts without using contemporary sources.
Students who have completed this course will gain the knowledge necessary to understand the features of law.
Prerequisites
The completion of this course is not conditioned upon completion of any other courses.
