Learning outcomes
|
During their studies, students choose one foreign language from the offer of foreign languages (English, French, German) as a compulsory subject. It is assumed that students come from secondary schools with intermediate knowledge of general language, so from the beginning the teaching is focused on professional legal terminology. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the issues of professional legal language, legal terminology, legal system and compare foreign language terminology with Czech legal terminology. The basic method is work with professional text in order to activate the acquired legal language and strengthen the ability to actively use the acquired terms in practice. After completing the course the student will know the characteristics of professional legal language, will be able to talk about the origin and development of common law, the main features of the Anglo-American legal system, the sources of Anglo-American law and the judicial system. They will learn technical terms in the field of the constitutional law, the US Constitution, the Czech Constituion, executive branch.
Students who have completed this subject will gain knowledge and skills in the field of technical legal terminology and they will become familiar with Anglo-American legal system.
