Course content
Contemporary Czech and World Literature 1 focuses on the perceptual component of the interpretation of the literary heritage of the period and emphasizes the basic theoretical procedures leading to the interpretation of the work in connection with the development of reading literacy and applied knowledge from the area of critical thinking. Topics: Social and cultural milestones in literary life. Authentic literature: diaries, memories, interviews. Postmodern (imaginative) prose. Lyrics of prosaic testimony. Attempts to the typology of poetry. Examples of literary fiction. Return the novel. Spirituality in literature. Dramatic creation of the present. Literary awards and literary journals, journalism.

Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: - Define and explain the socio-cultural framework of the late 20th century and the first decade of the 21st century. - To outline the basic trends of Czech prose and poetry at the turn of the millennium. - Illustrate social developments on examples of specific literary works. - To classify and interpret the masterpieces as constitutive expressions of partial verbal artistic lines. - Recognize the artistic and social importance of the work on specific literary demonstrations. - Apply primary methodological approaches to the reading of a work related to the development of reading literacy. - Justify the critical process of interpreting the work and respond appropriately to discussions over the artistic value of the work.
