Course content
Syllabus (content) of the course: <LI> Theoretical concepts and approaches in social pedagogy. Comparison of theories and focus of social pedagogy in EU countries. <LI> Philosophical-methodological and sociological-anthropological framework of social pedagogy. Historical views on social pedagogy. <LI> Relationship between social pedagogy, social work, social anthropology. <LI> Methodology of social pedagogy, research in social pedagogy. <LI> Profession of social pedagogue. Normative definition of basic phenomena in the education of social pedagogues. Professional training, qualification requirements, competencies, legislative context. Overall profile of the profession. Comparison in an international context. <LI> Application of social pedagogue in practice. Comparison in the context of helping professions. Specification of the profession based on the requirements of the catalogue of typical positions and legislation of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. Comparison in an international context. <LI> Prevention of risky behavior and other forms of deviation - types of preventive activities, subjects of prevention. Strategy for the prevention of socially pathological phenomena within the competence of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic.

Learning outcomes
To assess the position of social pedagogy in the system of pedagogical sciences in the recent and historical context. To compare the conception of social pedagogy and educational contents in the Czech Republic and abroad. To present a comprehensive profile of the profession of a social pedagogue. To clarify the issues of anchoring of social deviation areas in terms of social pedagogy.
After completing the course, the student should be able to: <LI> compare the concept of social pedagogy in the Czech Republic and abroad, evaluate the key moments of the development phases of social pedagogy, compare the theoretical and practical level of social pedagogy; <LI> evaluate the position of social pedagogy in the system of pedagogical sciences in the current and historical context; <LI> characterize the educational path, analyze and compare educational content in the preparation of a social pedagogue in the Czech Republic and abroad; <LI> analyze in detail the key competencies of a social pedagogue, present a comprehensive profile of the social pedagogue profession; <LI> analyze current problems of social pedagogy in the Czech Republic and abroad; <LI> clarify and evaluate aspects of the relationship between social pedagogy, social work and social andragogy abroad; <LI> analyze the relationship between social pedagogy and ethopedics, clarify the issue of anchoring the area of social deviations within social pedagogy; <LI> propose a methodological approach and specify methods of social educational work and educational preventive procedures; <LI> propose a research design in a selected area of social pedagogy, focusing, for example, on the development of the competence of a social pedagogue, the possibilities of applying a social pedagogue in practice, specific social pedagogic problems, etc.
Prerequisites
Expected entrance competences: student´s competences are strengthened by passing the following subjects: Theory and methodology of science, Psychological aspects of education, Philosophical aspects of education.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Dialog

A contribution for a special periodical aimed at comparative analysis, proposal of a preventive programme of social-educational work, or a proposal of a research-survey design.
