Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to provide midwifery students with a basic orientation in research approaches used in healthcare, with a focus on qualitative research and its use in midwifery and perinatal care. After completing the course, the student: 1. Understands the basic division of research into quantitative and qualitative, 2. Knows the principles of quantitative research,. 3. Is familiar with basic statistical procedures, 4. Understands the essence of qualitative research. 5. Can distinguish situations in which it is appropriate to use a quantitative or qualitative approach. 6. Is able to formulate a research question using the PICO scheme (and its modifications) and use it as a tool for systematically defining a research plan and working with professional sources. 7. Is aware of the importance of research for the development of evidence-based practice in midwifery.
Students will understand the meaning and purpose of scientific approach, applicability in practice of midwifery. Students are able to prepare adequate design their own copyright research according to the basic paradigm of scientific method, statistical reasoning, learn the basic techniques and methods for collecting and analyzing data.

Attendance min. 80%. Part of the credit for the subject is the preparation, submission and subsequent defense (for testing) of a design of their own research topic assigned by the teacher or of their own choice and justification.
