Course content
History of the obstetrics and its personalities, physiology of the pregnancy, obstetrical examination and antenatal care, physiological childbirth, physiological puerperium.

Learning outcomes
The education is focused on gaining of the theoretical knowledge and practical skills in obstetrics. This is an essential profile training being followed by other theoretical and practical lessons in midwifery and it is divided in two semesters. First part of the study concerns the history of obstetrics, physiology of pregnancy, obstetrical examination and prenatal care, physiological labour and puerperium and introducing the main examination methods, especially ultrasound and cardiotocography.
On the completion of the course, the students will obtain theoretical basics for later midwife practice, especially concerning antenatal care, labour and puerperium.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of biology, chemistry, histology, embryology, anatomy and human physiology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Attedance at 10 seminars and lectures.
