Course content
Basic physical examination, examination methods, respiratory monitoring, monitoring of the cardiovascular system, special monitoring techniques, monitoring of the central nervous system, analgosedation, operation of basic monitoring devices, correct procedure of collection and handling of biological specimen, physiological values of particular examinations.

Learning outcomes
The subject describes the instrumentation for monitoring patient's basic vital functions for diagnostic and therapeutic functions and devices for organ function support. It defines the meaning and general objectives of monitoring. Describes basic physical examination, examination methods. Apply breathing monitoring (respiratory frequency monitoring, pulse oximetry, capnometer, blood gas). Apply cardiovascular monitoring (cardiac monitoring, IBP, NPB, ECG). It uses evaluation methods and scales. Describes special features of monitoring techniques (abdominal pressure, intracranial pressure, TT and others). It describes the possibilities of central nervous system monitoring (evaluation of quality and quantity of consciousness, depth of analgosedation).
Upon completion of the course the students will be able to work with the intensive care unit equipment, they will be evaluate basic physiological functions of the patient, parameters of acid-base balance etc.
Prerequisites
Orientation in the issue of equipment for intensive care units, evaluation of the physiological functions of patients in intensive care units.

Student performance, Didactic Test, Dialog, Seminar Work

100% participation in teaching. Fulfillment of the assigned task - operation of basic monitoring devices, evaluation of vital functions.
