Course content
Definition of the main topics of the course: - Ethics in health care. Ethics in health care. - Current principles of medical and health care ethics. - Conflict as an ethical problem, conflict as an ethical dilemma in specialized medical practice. - Major ethical issues in specialized nursing care: euthanasia, organ donation, ethical issues in reproduction and transplantation. - The principle of justice, allocation of scarce resources, access to health care and specialised health care. - Moral rights and duties of employers and employees. - Models of ethical decision-making of subjects in management

Learning outcomes
This course defines ethics from the perspective of the health care professional providing specialized nursing care to adults and children and in the reasoning and actions of the manager. It demonstrates the difference between conflict as an ethical problem and conflict as an ethical dilemma in specific healthcare situations. Introduces the moral rights and responsibilities of employees and employers. Describes models of ethical reasoning and decision making. Addresses the problem of unfreedom and pressure in managerial decisions. Develops in detail the principle of justice.
Ability to work with text, discussion, searching for sources.
Prerequisites
Admission to study at the university.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Active participation in lectures and seminars, independent elaboration of partial assignments and final colloquium verifying the knowledge from the completed course, 80% participation in teaching.
