Topics of seminars: 1. Introduction to physical activity prescription and physiological adaptation to exercise 2. Functional and stress diagnostics in cardiovascular rehabilitation 3. Therapeutic rehabilitation in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) 4. Therapeutic rehabilitation in patients with peripheral artery disease (PAD) and diabetes mellitus 5. Therapeutic rehabilitation in patients with chronic heart failure (HFrEF / HFpEF) 6. Therapeutic rehabilitation in patients after cardiac and pulmonary surgery 7. General approach to breathing mechanism and respiratory control 8. Diaphragm - physiology, pathophysiology and physical therapy 9. Pulmonary physical therapy in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation For each diagnosis, the seminars include: - relevant questionnaires and subjective assessment - functional and clinical physiotherapy examination - interpretation of stress and functional test results - exercise prescription and progression - safety aspects, contraindications and red flags - monitoring and modification of rehabilitation intervention Practical lectures: 15 practical lectures in the Department of Sports Medicine and Cardiovascular Rehabilitation 1. Tour of cardiovascular rehab. (CVR) clinic, introduction of CVR in our hospital, aerobic training part 1 2. Aerobic training part 2, case study 3. Resistance training in cardio rehabilitation 4. Resistence training with specific diagnoses 5. Calming down and relaxation 6. Spiroergometry with a patient 7. CVR group exercise with patients

Learning outcomes
|
The course Cardiovascular rehabilitation gives a comprehensive view on the issue of therapeutic rehabilitation strategies and methods of physiotherapy in patients with cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease and influencing of risk factors.
Familiarization with the principles of cardiovascular rehabilitation, principles of appropriate physical exercise and leading of rehabilitation programmes in patients with cardiovascular disease.

Attendance and Participation in Class: The student is required to actively participate in class, respond to short in-class questions and complete all pre-assigned tasks and requirements. Attendance is mandatory for 100% of the course sessions. Absences are allowed only for serious reasons, must be properly excused and must be compensated according to instructions. Credit Requirements: -prepare and present an individual assignment focused on physiotherapy-related questionnaires and outcome measures relevant to given cardiovascular diagnosis (upload the presentation to Moodle for shared use by other students) -at the end of the semester, the student will take a multiple-choice theory test covering the course material. A minimum score of 70 % is required. Final Examination: Questions for the practical examination will be given in advance. All students have three attempts to pass the practical exam.
