Theoretical knowledge 1. Basic knowledge of functional anatomy - skeletal and muscular systems. 2. Basic knowledge of physiology - blood circulation, lymphatic system, muscular system, CNS. 3. Basics of first aid. 4. History of massage. 5. Classification of regeneration and sports massage. 6. Indication and contraindication of massage. 7. Effects of massage. 8. Hygiene of massage, means of massage. 9. Psychology of massage. 10. Other massage techniques. 11. Soft mobilization techniques. 12. Passive stretching on massage tables. 13. Basic massage touches. Practical skills 1. Basic massage touches. 2. Massage of the back. 3. Massage of the neck. 4. Additional touches, mobilization and stretching of the neck and back. 5. Massage of the chest. 6. Massage of the abdomen. 7. Additional touches, mobilization and stretching of the chest. 8. Massage of the back of the lower extremities. 9. Massage of the front of the lower extremities. 10. Massage of the upper extremities. 11. Additional touches, mobilization and stretching of the upper and lower extremities. 12. Application of sports massage - emergency massage. 13. Self-massage.

Learning outcomes
|
The course introduces to the students the forms of traditional and sports massage and the effects of massage on the human body. The techniques of reconditioning and sports massage are practiced. The students can obtain a licence within the FTK UP licensing programme. Information about this course was translated to English within the project Internationalization of the Faculty of Physical Culture, Palacký University, Olomouc, No. CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0028, co-funded by the European Social Fund and the Government of the Czech Republic.
Upon completion of the course the student is knowledgeable about the history and types of massage, has theoretical knowledge about the mechanical, physiological and neurohumoral effects of massage and the psychology and hygiene of massage. The student has practical skills in delivering a massage.

100% attendance, licence exam is subject to obtaining credit.
