Course content
The essence of motor development (development of supporting and goal-directed motor skills). The nature of pain and the possibilities of its influence. Higher nervous activity: conditioned reflexes, learning and related phenomena. Muscle tone and its influence on motor activity. Control of body position and movement. Vision, hearing and balance. Olfaction and taste. Wakefulness, sleep, electrical activity of the brain. Autonomic nervous system. Central control of visceral functions. Neurophysiological basis of instinctive behaviour and emotions. Neurophysiological basis of kinesiotherapeutic methods.

Learning outcomes
This course builds on Part 1 of General Neurophysiology and introduces students to the neurophysiological basis of methods used in physiotherapy.
Student knows neurophysiology of senses, vigils and sleep, neurophysiology of regulation/control of body and movement, neurophysiology of autonomous and central nervous system.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
