Course content
1. Linguistics, grammar, codification, the standard Czech norm, orthography 2. Listed (mandatory) words, including less frequent items 3. Word formation I - prefixes, doubled consonants 4. Word formation II - rules governing the use of the suffixes "ský, cký; ští, čtí"; "ík, ina, ice"; and other specific suffixspelling cases 5. Pronouns "mě - mně", prepositions "s - z", including residual phenomena; fused forms; orthographically problematic compound expressions; spelling of abbreviations - period, spacing, capitalization 6. Internationalisms - orthography 7. Morphology - orthographic overlap - problematic phenomena 8. Proper nouns, the appellativization of proper nouns - capitalization rules 9. Syntax I - sentence elements - punctuation 10. Syntax II - semiclausal constructions and figures - punctuation 11. Syntax III - complex sentences - punctuation 12. Syntax IV - advanced complexsentence structures - punctuation 13. Subject-predicate agreement

Learning outcomes
The aim of work in workshops will be follow-up reminder and deepening of students´ understanding of contemporary literary standards of written language. Importance will be placed on mastering complex phenomena, knowledge is desirable in view of future career interests of students and which the users are often gaps in the language.
The ability to produce written texts that are not burdened by spelling deficiencies.
Prerequisites
Elementary grammatical and orthographic competence at the level of primary school.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

Credit: - 75% attendance at seminars, - successful completion of two partial tests.
