Course content
0. Overture: man and the world: vs. empiricism. rationalism (apriorismus) 1st Act: the curse of Kant: Analytical or synthetic 2nd Act: logical atomism / Empiricism: the logic of the world, a shortcut through "pure" language 3rd Act: Wittgenstein I.: sentence as an image of reality 4th Act: Wittgenstein II.: Language Games 5th Act: Oxford College: language as an act 6th Act: Quine´ Revolution treacherous synonymy and radical translation 7th Act: Davidson´ optimism: radical interpretation 8th Act: Goodman megalomania: language and the world-making. 9th postlude: synthesis and other pathways (Strawson: the structure of language and structure of the world, Kripke: Baptisms and possible worlds, Putnam: linguistic division of labor?)

Learning outcomes
The course should be supplementing existing knowledge of language (and philosophy) and some general problems associated with it. Both terms are conceptualised home and during the course will be sought for both their definition and relationship. Media described by right hand, making it the central issue, which will bring new impetus to the question of objectivity. The course offers a de facto drama - in eight acts with prelude and sequel - the relationship of language and the world and "what we say / what we speak" and "what is" or, if you like, grammar and ontology. It could carry a subtitle Selected topics in philosophy of language, since the axis seminar program more or less follows the historical development of the issue, the scope was narrowed in the interest of consistency on the tradition of analysis - but the angle on seminars. In the course of fire will be noted as well as links, different and common themes and solutions with other traditions, especially structuralist, phenomenological and hermeneutic.
Ownership of the basic concepts of philosophy relevant to the study of media.
Prerequisites
The basic knowledge of philosophical concepts.

Essay

Colloquium - regular attendance - take active part in the discussions - knowledge of the assigned texts - essay on chosen topic (5 pages) and the discussion the essay
