Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to outline the concepts of understanding of music signs as a specific form of communication. Semiotics can be defined the science about signs sign systems, semiotics of music deals with musical signs as symbol systems and addresses the question of what and music means and the ways it communicates. The course is to outline the development of musical semiotics, exposing a conceptual / terminological problems of discipline and guidelines addressing key issues, with special attention to the concept of so-called Prague team for musical semiotics. The course will probe into specific ways semantization music.
