1. Print as a means of mass communication in the history. 2. Periodicals in Europe. The development of mass communication. 3. Development of the press after the abolition of censorship restrictions in England. Political Journalism. 4. North American journalism - the beginnings of a struggle for the freeodom of the press. U.S. Constitution and the First Amendment. 5. French press on the eve of the revolution.Abolition of censorship, newspapers in the service of revolution. 6. Industrial revolution and new technologies. growth of newspaper circulation. The beginnings of penny press. 7. Establishment of news agencies. 8. Elite and mass newspapers. 9. First World War and the media. Changes of content of media. Censorship. 10. Media between the wars. Media conglomerates. 11.The main trends in post-war development of media industry.

comprehensive review of knowledge gained
Students gain practical and theoretical knowledge of media studies and is able to apply their learning in practice. Completion of the course / exam is a prerequisite for the successful completion of the field and form part of the final examination before obtaining a degree in media studies (master's degree).
