Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to understand the concept of the culture and its changes in the 20. century through reading and interpretation of key philosophical texts. Five thematic fields were chosen for mapping the main aspects of culture. The topics will be discussed on the background of two texts representing two different points of views. The chosen thematic fields are: the philosophy of science, the philosophy of technology, political philosophy, philosophy of arts and philosophy of religion. The final evaluation ot the issues will be placed in the context of philosophy of culture of the end of the postmodern area.
- Ability of critical analysis of advanced academic literature in Czech and English - Demonstration their understanding of contemporary academic literature on the topics discussed in the class - acquitance with the contemporary themes in cultural/medial studies - awareness of existing knowledge of cultural diversity, approached from pluralistic perspective - ability to discuss on cultural, media and societal topics related to the Media studies

Seminar Work

Requirements for the colloquium: - active participation in the class - reading of the texts andp preparation for the class - the essay on the chosen topics (5 pages, the topics discussed in advance with the lecturer) and its defence on the colloquium.
