Learning outcomes
This advanced course on modern Ukrainian literature focuses on the period from 2015 to the present, during which Ukrainian literature has shifted from purely postmodern experimentation to a more urgent, socially engaged discourse, strongly influenced by war, political upheaval, and the redefinition of national identity. Authors often intertwine personal experience with collective trauma (particularly the conflict in eastern Ukraine and, later, the full-scale war since 2022), while retaining elements of postmodern aestheticsfragmentary structure, polyphony, and genre blending. A new ethical dimension emerges, an effort to bear witness and capture reality in its raw form.
Understanding the postmodern Ukrainian literature.

A good knowledge of Ukrainian language (B2). Knowledge of basic movements in Ukrainian literature of the 19th and 20th century gained from the previous courses on literature.
