Learning outcomes
This practical course focuses on mastering the basics of escort and consecutive interpreting (with only limited exposure to simultaneous interpreting) in the following contexts: visits, meetings, opening ceremonies for cultural events, interpreting in the field of tourism, and corporate presentations. The goal is to define and reinforce basic interpreting procedures when working with a specific topic or text (preparation, standardization, active text comprehension, compensation, stylization). Emphasis is placed on the general basics of procedures and interpreting into both the native and foreign languages.
Students will acquire the ability to apply general language skills and work with foreign-language and Czech texts in escort, consecutive, and simultaneous interpreting related to visits, meetings, cultural events, tourism, and company presentations.
Prerequisites
The course is intended for students with a minimum proficiency level of B1 in Russian.
