Course content
1. Introduction to the Study of Social Etiquette - Lecture: Etiquette as a social norm; its relationship to morality, culture, and social roles - Seminar: Discussion of students' experiences with norms of behavior; assignment of the semester paper (selection of topic) 2. Historical Development of Etiquette - Lecture: From court etiquette to modern forms; transformations of behavioral rules - Seminar: Work with texts; short presentations of historical examples of etiquette 3. Etiquette and Social Stratification - Lecture: Etiquette as a tool of social differentiation (status, capital, habitus) - Seminar: Analysis of specific situations (formal vs. informal settings) 4. Everyday Interactions and Rules of Conduct - Lecture: Greetings, introductions, non-verbal communication - Seminar: Model situations; practice and reflection on behavior 5. Professional and Workplace Etiquette - Lecture: Workplace behavior, hierarchy, communication - Seminar: Simulation of workplace situations; preparation of short presentations 6. Academic Etiquette - Lecture: Ethics and etiquette in the academic environment (communication, presentations, writing) - Seminar: Presentation practice; peer feedback 7. Intercultural Differences in Etiquette - Lecture: Cultural variability of norms; globalization - Seminar: Student presentations (selected cultures); discussion 8. Etiquette in the Digital Environment - Lecture: Online communication, social media, forms of digital politeness - Seminar: Analysis of specific online interactions; formulation of recommendations 9. Social Events and Rituals - Lecture: Formal and informal events (dinners, receptions, ceremonies) - Seminar: Design of a social event scenario (group work) 10. Etiquette as a Tool of Power and Control - Lecture: Norms as mechanisms of social regulation - Seminar: Discussion of texts; critical reflection 11. Contemporary Transformations of Etiquette - Lecture: Individualization, flexibility of norms, informality - Seminar: Debate; preparation of final presentations 12. Student Project Presentations I - Lecture: Summary of key concepts - Seminar: Presentations of students' research/analytical work 13. Student Project Presentations II and Final Reflection - Lecture: Etiquette in the future of society - Seminar: Completion of presentations; collective course reflection Independent Student Work (throughout the semester) - ongoing reading and reflection on academic texts, - preparation of short seminar outputs, - presentation of a selected topic (individually or in pairs), - preparation of a semester paper (analysis of a specific aspect of etiquette).

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to develop students' ability to understand social etiquette as a social system of norms and symbolic forms of conduct that structure everyday interactions.
Students are able to analyze social etiquette in the context of social structures, cultural patterns, and historical development; to identify the functions of etiquette in the formation and reproduction of social relations, status, and power; to critically reflect on transformations of etiquette in modern and late modern society, including the influence of globalization and digitalization; to apply knowledge of etiquette in various social situations (institutional, professional, and intercultural); and to develop cultivated communication and presentation skills appropriate to academic and professional environments.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Analysis of linguistic, Seminar Work

The student receives course credit for active participation in seminar discussions. A minimum attendance of 80% is required. The colloquium will take the form of presentations of students' research/analytical work. The student must demonstrate the following competences: the ability to analyze social etiquette in the context of social structures, cultural patterns, and historical development; to identify the functions of etiquette in the formation and reproduction of social relations, status, and power; to critically reflect on transformations of etiquette in modern and late modern society, including the influence of globalization and digitalization; to apply knowledge of etiquette in various social situations (institutional, professional, and intercultural); and to develop cultivated communication and presentation skills appropriate to academic and professional environments.
