The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the issues of collective memory, providing them with a theoretical and methodological framework to analyse collective memory and tools for critically understanding how social memory is constructed, transmitted or silenced (construction of silence, denial and forgetting) During the course students will study both: the theoretical approach to understand what collective memory is and what it means to remember for nations, genders, cultures and ethnic groups. Also, students will explore the meaning and the role of politics of memory and the role of political agents in the process. The second part of the course will present concrete historical examples that will be used to highlight some of the theories and concepts. The main attention will be paid to the countries of the CEE region region.
Po absolvování kurzu bude student schopen: 1) vysvětlit základní koncepty a teoretické přístupy ke studiu kolektivní paměti; 2) porozumět procesům utváření, přenosu, transformace a zamlčování kolektivní paměti; 3) analyzovat mechanismy sociální konstrukce paměti, zapomínání, popírání a mlčení; 4) aplikovat základní metodologické přístupy používané ve výzkumu kolektivní paměti; 5) kriticky reflektovat roli paměti při formování identit národů, etnických skupin, kultur a genderových kategorií; 6) vysvětlit význam politik paměti a úlohu politických aktérů při utváření veřejných interpretací minulosti; 7) analyzovat vybrané příklady paměťových konfliktů a politik paměti ve státech střední a východní Evropy; 8) samostatně interpretovat odborné texty zaměřené na kolektivní paměť a memory studies.

Předpoklady
|
Vzhledem k tomu, že se jedná o úvodní kurz, nejsou stanoveny žádné obecné vstupní požadavky. Kurz je vyučován v anglickém jazyce, a proto je podmínkou dobrá znalost angličtiny.

Hodnoticí metody a kritéria
|
Esej, Systematické pozorování studenta
Aktivní účast na výuce, průběžné plnění zadaných úkolů, studium vybrané povinné literatury a systematická práce během semestru. Součástí kurzu je rovněž příprava a prezentace na vybrané téma a vypracování závěrečné písemné práce.
