Course content
The following blocks will be covered in the course: Theoretical part: 1. Theoretical definitions of culture: cultural limits and main studies. 2. Theories of national identity and the construction of national culture. 3. Mentality of the territory: theoretical aspects of the longue durée. 4. Culture and globalization. Practical part: 5. Geography of Spain. 6. Main means of communication: press, television, radio and social networks. 7. Gastronomy. 8. Folk traditions and festivities: origin and development. 9. Political reality of Spain. 10. Main current problems of Spanish society. 11. Spanish culture in the context of globalization.

Lecture, Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming)

  • Preparation for the Exam - 24 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide a cultural, social and geographical overview of Spain. To introduce students to the basic aspects of the life of the population, traditions, art, myths, social problems and conflicts, and the many secrets hidden and rooted in Spanish culture that students will discover during the course.
Mastery of the subject matter to the extent specified in the course objectives.

Didactic Test, Final Report

- Active participation in seminars (presentations in Spanish, exercises). 3 unexcused absences are allowed. - Home preparation for class (reading 25 hours, preparation of exercises and presentations 25 hours). - Written exam
