Course content

What is it Renaissance? History of Italian states in the period of Renaissance (15th-16th century). Renaissance literatura (Machiavelli, Ariosto, Tasso, aj.), society, thought Renaissance art and architecture (Brunelleschi, Alberti, Palladio, Leonardo da Vinci, Raffaelo, Michelangelo, Tiziano etc.) History of Italian states in 17th-18th century Baroque in literature and arts (Marino, Basile, Vico, Bernini, Borromini, Caravaggio etc.) Society in the period of Counter-Reformation, Baroque and Enlightenment, the "New Science" (Galileo etc.) Literature and arts in the period of Neoclassicism (Goldoni, Parini, Canova etc.)

Learning outcomes
|
Acquisition of the knowledge of Italian cultural history from 15th to 18th century.
Students will be familiar with the characteristics of individual cultural epochs, will be able to apply them to specific historical sources (literary, artistic, and philosophical works), and will deepen their ability to analyse texts and works of visual art.

Prerequisites
|
Knowledge of Italian, completion of the courses UL1B and UL2B, or equivalent knowledge of Italian cultural history.

|
Mark, Oral exam
Class attendance, preparation for classes, and completion of the exam.
