Course content
Introduction to contract law and its role in legal and economic practice. Classification of contracts and basic types of contractual relationships. The process of negotiating and concluding contracts. Conditions for the validity of contracts and the legal effectiveness of contractual provisions. Rights and obligations of the parties in the performance of a contract. Breach of contract and sanctions resulting from non-compliance with contractual obligations. Obligations of the seller within contractual relationships. Price determination and its role in contractual relations. Analysis of model contractual situations and work with authentic legal materials.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basic principles of contract law and the main stages in the formation and performance of contractual relationships. The course focuses on understanding the classification of contracts, the process of negotiation and conclusion of contracts, as well as the rights and obligations of the parties involved in fulfilling contractual commitments. Students will also become familiar with the conditions of contract validity, the consequences of breach of contract, and the sanctions resulting from the failure to comply with contractual obligations. Particular attention is paid to selected aspects of contractual relations in business practice, especially the obligations of the seller and issues related to price determination. The course thus provides students with a fundamental understanding of contractual relationships and their functioning in a legal and economic context.
After completing the course, the student will be able to: understand the basic principles of contract law and explain its role in legal and economic practice, distinguish between different types and classifications of contracts, describe the process of negotiating and concluding a contract, explain the basic rights and obligations of contracting parties in the performance of a contract, assess the validity of a contract and identify the conditions for its legal effectiveness, explain the consequences of breach of contract and possible sanctions, describe the basic obligations of the seller and the principles of price determination within contractual relationships, use basic legal terminology when analysing simple contractual situations.

Completion of the course is conditional upon the student's attendance in classes, systematic preparation for individual sessions, active participation in seminars, study of the relevant academic literature, and participation in a final oral discussion in which the acquired knowledge is assessed.
