Course content
The seminar focuses on the practical side of medieval and early modern pilgrimage and travel, in the form of a walking excursion (pilgrimage) from the center of Olomouc to the Svatý Kopeček basilica and the monastery in Dolany (about 15 km). At the beginning of the semester (during the introductory meeting), students will choose one of the Olomouc places of memory, which they will present to others during the pilgrimage. Students will work on preparing this presentation individually (or in pairs) during the semester. During two block tutorials (dates to be specified at the beginning of the semester), students will become familiar with the history of pilgrimage, travel practices, and the methods and narrative techniques used to record these journeys. This will then be applied in the practical part, which will involve an excursion in May. During this excursion, each student will create a personal travelogue that will serve as the basis for their final reflection and comparison. Requirements for obtaining the exam: - participation in the introductory meeting and ongoing tutorials - preparation of a presentation of the selected monument/place of memory during the excursion - participation in the excursion - travelogue from the excursion - exam: final reflection
