Tle lessons are concerned on a general question of ?scientificality? of history and of its narrativity. Based on the theoretical literature (L. Stone, H. White, G. Iggers, J. Horský, M. Řepa, J. Randák atd.) the focus will be on the semantics of the term ?history? and on its changing in the time. The subject is concerned also on the processes leading to separation of history as a science in the 19th century and on the later ?re-foundation? of its narrative function. During the lessons and the seminars, three main problems will be examined in the discussion: 1) The problem of sources and their reliability ? contrafactual history. 2) The problem of style and imagination. 3) the problem of a language as a code of a certain period
