Course content
- What is reading culture? Me as a reader. - Reading research, or how is reading measured? - Historical aspects of reading culture - Theoretical approaches to reading - Reading strategies; typologies of readers - Reading in Czech literature; authors' reflections on their own reading - Gender aspects of reading, or: are women who read dangerous? - Reading and culture. The literary canon. Required school reading. - Reading at school. Reading literacy. The Reading and Writing for Critical Thinking (RWCT) program. - Reading and the digital age. Reading culture in the age of AI. - Presentations of students' own results

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to explore the various aspects of reading, which can be understood not only as a media activity focused primarily on books or e-books and their intellectual appropriation, but also as a sociocultural skill and a prerequisite for education. We will focus on the transformations of reading and of readers, and we will examine the ways in which these can be studied each student will therefore carry out their own small-scale research probe focused on one of the selected topics. The presentation of students' own findings will form the content of the final seminars.
