Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with tourism issues and specifics of sustainable tourism, including territorial models. The course provides information on the economic, social, cultural and environmental impacts of tourism development on regions. The course explains the following concepts: Principles of sustainable tourism, the life cycle of a destination, the carrying capacity of an area, regional sustainable tourism policy and management and marketing of tourism centres and areas.
Graduate of the course: - understand the basic principles of sustainable tourism, - understands current trends and challenges in sustainable tourism and - be able to defend the proposed solution of a destination for sustainable tourism in a presentation.

Assessment methods and criteria

Written exam, Student performance, Systematic Observation of Student
- Credit is awarded to learners by completing participation in a group presentation (2-3 learners) during the seminar. The specific requirements and topics for the presentation will be specified to the students in the introductory class of the course. Presentations will be given in seminars. - A written summary of three standard pages (1 ns is 1,800 characters including spaces) is required for the presentation. Responsibility for completing the presentation is team-based. - Active participation in seminar discussions. - The course concludes with a written examination. Up-to-date materials are available on Moodle from the beginning of the summer term, including all the information needed for credit and the written exam. Attendance is not required for the course, but is recommended. Mandatory attendance is required on the date of the actual presentation (excuses are only accepted with a doctor's note).
