Course content
At the beginning of the semester, students will be introduced to the basics of current information technologies, the use of computer networks and integrated information systems. The emphasis will be on the introduction of application functionality freely available via a Web interface. Topics of the course introduction: * Hardware components and software, types and characteristics of computer networks * Methods of connection, structure and orientation on the Internet, search engines * Internet, intranet, extranet. Differences in working philosophy. The data flow and data protection principles in the internal and external networks. Remote administration, remote access. Subsequently, the course will focus on presentation of the latest presentation equipment. Basic concepts of computer graphics will be explained. The topic will include not only information about the properties and the use of standard graphic formats but also an introduction to work in a graphic editor. The ability to work with graphics will be also frequently used in a series of lessons in creation of computer sites that are currently becoming one of the most common and most trusted ways of both personal and professional presentations. The course will be adapted for both advanced users of presentation technologies (it will offer them a deepening of their skills) and students who are just getting to know means of presentation. Specific content: * Basic concepts of hardware * Introduction to the system and software * Types and characteristics of computer networks * Communication services and the availability and management of information on the Internet. * Computer graphics and providing examples of graphic editors (including on-line editors) * Creating web pages (using commonly available freeware "html" editors)

Learning outcomes
The ability to use and operate modern information technologies currently belongs to basic indispensable skills of an educated person and it is a prerequisite for a good employability of graduates in the labor market. The Information Technologies course provides students with a deepening of computer literacy especially in sphere of economics. The aim of this course with the extent of two classes per week is to familiarize students with software and information technologies they may encounter both in professional and everyday life and which they can use for their further professional development.

Assessment methods and criteria
Dialog, Seminar Work

The course is ended with a colloquium. Active participation and carrying out assignments directly in the class. The final output will be a personal presentation in the form of web pages (using technologies and methodology introduced during the course).
