Course content
History of entrepreneurship as a discipline of economic and social sciences Entrepreneur and changes in his role in society and time Globalization and development of entrepreneurship in the European context Entrepreneurship in social and political context Impact of a technological progress on entrepreneurship Enterprise and a customer? Advertising and development of its forms Corporate culture, business ethics and their role in a company Current issues of business history in companies today A seminar paper (an example of a specific firm), which represents an application of general knowledge gained in the course, is a compulsory part of the course.

Learning outcomes
The course aims to deepen the awareness of context in the area of business and corporate sphere by studying the concrete situation at the beginnings of entrepreneurship and effects of business relationships in the Czech Republic and other selected European countries on the background of business history. Concerning the Czech Republic, the course will focus on the period from the mid-19th the mid-20th century and concerning Western Europe, the historical development in the late 20th century will be shown. Looking into the business culture, business ethics and business philosophy will be part of the course, as well as a study of a changing relationship of society towards entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship in general.
Knowledge of the history of entrepreneurship and influence of market relations in the Czech Republic and other selected European countries. Familiarity with the fate of specific European companies of different industries and application of the context to individual examples.

There are no required course prerequisites.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Written exam

Seminary paper about the history of a specific firm in connection with lectured topics. Oral exam, which is a combination of the topic of selected firm and application of the course content.
