KAA/ERAS: Course objectives The course will familiarize visiting students with various aspects of Czech culture and history in odrer to help them view their experience in a broader context. The course will also draw on topics such as demographics, geograpy, politics, or economics. of their emphasis will also be placed on independent presentations of selected topics. Student requirements - attendance (maximum of 2 absences), read a book of choice by a Czech author, watch two Czech movies, go see two other events (e.g. exhibition, concert, festival, sporting event etc.), write a personal account of one's own view of Czech culture, give a presentation on a selected topic, active participation in seminars, individual consultations, and presentation of a selected topic. e-mail: pavel.goncarov@gmail.com Assessment methods presentation essay analysis of student performance

Předpoklady
|
Students should have at least a medium B2 level of English. The course is part of the offerings of the Department of English and American Studies of the Faculty of Arts and will be taught by Dr. David Livingstone. Registration in the class will be dealt with the first day.

Analýza výkonů studenta
In order to receive credit for the course students will have to participate in all the classes during the week. By the end of semester, students are required to deliver a Journal (more details in our classes) - includes reflections on your perspective on the Czech culture and reading two Czech books (translated to English / your mother tongue), watching 3 films and attending 3 cultural events during the semester. Details to be discussed in our first week. In order to receive credit for the course students will have to participate in class, attend regularly (80%) and write a diary of their experience during their stay. The diary will also include responses to at least two Czech novels and two films which can be read or viewed in the student's own language.
