Course content

The course is designed to prepare students for internships at the institutions where they are most likely to find professional employment - at heritage preservation agencies, government offices, public, church, and private heritage sites, relevant public administration departments, or academic institutions. Internships in archaeological research may also be pursued. Based on their own contacts or recommendations from the department, students select an institution outside the Czech Republic or outside their country of permanent residence/origin, and, with the consent of all parties, they carry out a project there that develops their practical skills (cataloging items from museum collections, assisting with exhibition preparation, etc.). The topics of the projects vary each semester. The course's credit hours include, as needed, independent preparation by students for the internship and the processing of project results. The internship may be completed twice during the course of study (versions 1 and 2).
