The course deals with the legislative and procedural aspects of current heritage conservation, while providing an in-depth presentation of current cases of preservation in the Czech Republic. The aim is to familiarize students with significant examples from the recent past or present and to use them to illustrate the limits of heritage conservation in the Czech Republic, with overlaps into other (especially European) systems of heritage conservation.
Students gain an understanding of the practical, methodological, legislative, and institutional limitations of heritage conservation, illustrated through analyses of specific recent case studies.
