Course content
The course covers the entire territory of the Czech Republic and the nearby border regions, within the range of a round-trip day trip. The focus is on examining methods of cultural heritage preservation, its restoration, and its presentation. Students generally cover their own travel expenses (transportation, admission fees), unless otherwise arranged in advance. Destinations are selected by the course coordinator or instructor in connection with the curriculum or current cultural events (exhibitions, ongoing or completed monument restorations, etc.). Students may sign up for excursions to various locations multiple times during the school year (versions 1-4). Thematic areas - examples: Selected artistic and cultural centers in the Czech Republic (Prague, Brno, Kutná Hora, Telč, etc.) or in nearby border regions with ties to and influences on the Czech lands (e.g., Vienna, Bratislava, Wrocław).

Learning outcomes
The cycle covers the entire territory of the Czech Republic and nearby border areas, within reach of a day trip there and back. The emphasis is on observing ways of cultural heritage conservation, its restoration, and presentation.
Students learn about the sites they visit that are of art-historical and heritage value, including their urban context and historical furnishings, while also engaging in historiographical reflection on the subject (from art-historical and regional perspectives).

Student performance

Participation in the field trip and a written report on the visited site, presented during the field trip.
