Course content
|
The course covers the entire territory of the Czech Republic. Emphasis is placed on examining methods of cultural heritage preservation, restoration, and presentation. Students generally cover their own travel expenses (transportation, admission fees), unless otherwise arranged in advance. Destinations are selected by the course coordinator or instructor in connection with the curriculum or current cultural events (exhibitions, ongoing or completed monument restorations, etc.). Students may sign up for excursions to various locations multiple times during the school year (versions 1-2). Thematic areas - examples: 1. West Bohemian spa towns 2. Northern Plzeň region - Cistercian cultural landscape 3. South Bohemia and the Rožmberk family 4. Prague - Historic city and modern architecture 5. Liberec and Northern Bohemia - 19th-century architecture and industrial heritage 6. Kutná Hora - mining town and Gothic art 7. The Pernštejns - aristocratic estates and cultural landscape 8. Rural churches and vernacular architecture in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands 9. Brno and the Moravian Karst - nature, archaeology, and modern history 10. Znojmo - historic town and Podyjí National Park 11. Central Moravia - patronage of the Olomouc bishopric 12. Ostrava and the Těšín region - monuments of industrialization and post-industrial landscape 13. Western Silesia, Klodzko County, Broumov region - cultural heritage in the borderlands

Learning outcomes
|
The cycle covers the entire territory of the Czech Republic. Emphasis is placed on monitoring methods of cultural heritage conservation, restoration, and presentation.
Students explore the sites with art-historical and heritage value, including their urban context and historical street furniture, while also engaging in a historiographical reflection on the subject (from art-historical and regional perspectives).
