Course content
The lectures will focus on the most famous profane and sacred collections that were formed at the threshold of the modern period. The main focus of attention will be: 1) the personality profile of the collector - for what purpose did he collect works of art and to what extent was he influenced by contemporary taste 2) type of art collections - Kunstkammer, Wunderkammer (cabinet of curiosities), picture gallery, antiquarium, Bilderkabinett 3) the location of the collection within the space of the residence - in which parts of the palaces were the collections located, to what extent were they accessible to the public, according to what system were the works placed there

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students of art history to the topic of European collecting in the early modern period. The lectures will focus on the most famous profane and sacred collections that were formed at the threshold of the modern period.
Orientation in the given issue and knowledge of the English language.
Prerequisites
Participation in the workshop is a prerequisite for successful completion of the course.
