Learning outcomes

This course introduces students to anthropological perspectives on contemporary Korea. Cultural anthropology is here understood as an interpretive study of culture, that is, as an effort to understand other people from their own point of view and the meanings and webs of meaning they create. Students will be familiarized with this approach and guided toward adopting an anthropological perspective on Korean topics through the study of selected examples from recent relevant scholarly literature.
