Course content
|
This course consists of three parts: 1) Practical Language: This part of the course focuses primarily on practical language at the advanced level. Emphasis is placed on acquiring new vocabulary, new grammatical structures, and idiomatic expressions. Some time is devoted to the system of politeness, connecting expressions, and the systematic acquisition of adverbial expressions. 2) Conversation: In this part of the course, students learn to express their opinions clearly and support them with logical arguments when discussing selected topics. Attention is also given to spoken Japanese. Classes are conducted exclusively in Japanese. 3) Reading and Interpreting Academic Texts: This seminar focuses on developing the ability to read and interpret academic texts in Japanese. The course also includes translation exercises. The texts cover a variety of subject areas.

basic requirements: - regular class attendance (max. 3 unexcused absences in each course section) - homework - fulfillment of the requirements for each part of the course (assignments completed during the semester; details are provided by individual instructors during the first sessions) credits are awarded base on: - written test on practical language skills, points attained in small grammar tests written during the semester - oral presentation on the topic of one's bachelor's thesis - translation of an excerpt from a specialized text from Japanese into Czech/Slovak/English
