Course content
Topics: 1. Selected chapters from the theory of law - principles of the rule of law, legal order, legality and legal consciousness - system of law - public and private law 2. Courts of law - judicial system of the Czech Republic - types of judicial procedures, administrative procedure - judgements 3. Constitution and constitutional protection - Constitution as the fundamental law - principles of the rule of law, - separation of power (legislative, judiciary, executive) - the Constitutional Court and other bodies protecting human rights, the Ombudsman 4. The Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms - nature and generations of fundamental rights and freedoms - international protection of human rights 5. Social worker and law - relationship between social work and law - labour law and social worker as an employee - social worker and legal responsibility - social worker as a legal guardian 6. Information and personal data administration - personality protection under the private law - personality protection under the public law - information law

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to gain knowledge, skills and value principles, especially in connection with the basic orientation in the legal system and the most important legal regulations. The student will know the basic concepts of the theory of law, constitutional, administrative and civil law and will acquire basic general knowledge of law as such, from the perspective of a citizen of the state and especially a social worker. At the same time, the student will be able to apply the acquired knowledge from various areas of law, especially constitutional and administrative (including their procedural aspects) and will understand them in mutual context. The student will achieve this goal mainly by solving practical case studies. The subject does not neglect the legal regulation of personal data protection, when the basic excursion is included in this legal area
Students will be able to: - define and explain basic concepts of the theory of law (what is law vs. morality, what is a legal norm, what is a legal order, case law) - distinguish between the judicial system and its individual articles - define private and public law and differentiate between sectors and legal standards - be well informed in the basic sources of constitutional and administrative law - explain the basic concepts of constitutional law (the sovereignty of the people, the principle of legality, the rigidity of the constitution, political pluralism, parliamentary form of government, government for a time, active / passive voting rights, etc.) - evaluate when and whether a person can obtain the mandate of a Member / Senator, including his or her loss - understand the functioning of individual power representatives in the state (legislative, executive and judicial), which will also be able to define - define the basic principles of administrative work - describe the functioning of state administration and self-government - define the basic procedure for administrative proceedings and basic type of judicial procedure - find fundamental legal codes and relevant information of their content

1. Attendance and activity on lectures 2. Five tasks assigned at the seminars 3. Final test (15 multiple choice theoretical questions, 10 open practical questions, to pass the test at least 8 correctly answered theoretical questions and at the same time 5 correctly answered/processed practical questions are needed)
