To present paradoxes as phenomena pointing to the limits of rationality as it is commonly understood in contemporary culture. To show the connection between paradoxes as historical and linguistic phenomena and situations in our lives that are important to us. To point out paradoxes in science. To show self-reference as one of the most common sources of paradoxes and as a phenomenon whose understanding can have therapeutic effects. To indicate implications for consciousness and spirituality pointing to a more complex understanding of spiritual wisdom.
After completing the course the student will be able to - understand the issues of paradoxes and self-reference, their correlation with language, logic, rationality, philosophy and wisdom, - explain the significance of paradoxes for contemporary philosophy and culture and apply the knowledge in their life, - understand the role of paradoxes in spirituality, - critically evaluate literature on the topic.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Didactic Test, Seminar Work
The student organizes their studies based on the study materials and instructions in the LMS. They participate in scheduled webinars - participation in a webinar means online attendance for the entire duration of the webinar, enabled by a stable and high-quality internet connection. A functioning microphone and a camera turned on for the entire duration of the webinar are required. During the webinar, it is unacceptable to simultaneously engage in other activities that require concentration (driving a motor vehicle, etc.). In the event of an excused absence for serious reasons, the instructor may assign an appropriate make-up task. The student completes ongoing tests. An important part of the overall assessment is a written semester paper. The student is expected to demonstrate that they have understood the topic of paradoxes and, from their perspective, are able to view new phenomena in a similar way, especially in the area of spirituality.
