The aim of this course is to introduce students to the theological principles of synodal ecclesiology as they are currently being developed in both the theology and practice of the Catholic Church. Through specific subtopics, the conclusions of the Synod on Synodality (2021-2024) and the specific emphases of its current implementation phase (2025-2028) will be integrated into a broader theological discussion. The course is structured as a combination of lectures and discussions involving experts (guests).
Students will become familiar with the principles of contemporary Catholic synodal ecclesiology and will be able to creatively contextualize the specific emphases of the Church's synodal conversion within local contexts, in accordance with the Final Document and the Guidelines for the Implementation Phase of the Synodal Process.
