Course content
This course teaches students to work with text as an important information tool during the crisis lifecycle. Key qualities of information presented through text include speed, accuracy, clarity, and appropriate placement. Students will develop the ability to identify these qualities and work with them. Proper written communication is crucial because precisely formulated ideas allow for clear information delivery, self-expression, and effective, understandable sharing of information with others. Course content: Preparing text with regard to placement Forms of textual expression Working with language to ensure text is accurate, up-to-date, and understandable, and includes all essential information Preparing messages for an internal department of a company or institution, considering different types of recipients Target audience and conditions for proper reception of text messages Text analysis ? protecting the company?s reputation Text analysis ? accepting responsibility for a crisis situation Text analysis ? disclaiming responsibility for a crisis situation Text analysis ? forms of apology in a crisis situation Text analysis ? before, during, and after a crisis: appropriate forms of communication Presentation of final projects Analysis of the semester project

In the course, students will practice how to prepare a text in a short period of time that helps to communicate the facts in a crisis situation. In the exercises, they will develop the competence to prepare an appropriately long and content-oriented text for a specified target group in a short period of time and under pressure.
