Learning outcomes
The course focuses on developing the key social and communication skills necessary for working in a multimedia environment. Students will learn to plan and prepare presentations using modern tools (PowerPoint, Prezi, Canva, Pecha Kucha) and will master stress management techniques and the art of polished public speaking. A significant portion of the course is devoted to critical analysis of information, recognising disinformation (fake news), understanding the role of emotions in the media, and the ethics of communication. The course also develops copywriting skillsthat is, the ability to write clear and engaging texts for various target audiences. Within the course, we focus on 2-3 specific areas of development (critical thinking, information literacy, or teamwork), which are naturally integrated into the topics covered. The learning objectives are defined using active verbs from Bloom's taxonomy (e.g., analyse, evaluate, create), which help students focus on higher levels of understanding and practical application. The course emphasizes the practical application and co-creation of knowledge..
Upon completing the course, students will be familiar with their own communication styles, will be able to communicate without committing "communication fouls," engage in constructive dialogue, and resolve conflicts without aggression. They will understand the social context and the role of emotions in information processing, and will be able to reflect on their personal development in light of feedback. Students will learn ways to capture their audience's attention and choose the appropriate communication platform to convey information effectively. At the same time, they will master the basic rules of etiquette and demeanor as key elements of a professional presentation. Upon completing the course, students will: - be aware of their communication styles and engage in constructive dialogue without committing "communication fouls" (Teamwork and Ethical Reasoning); - respond constructively to conflict and actively contribute to a positive team atmosphere (Teamwork); - critically analyse arguments in media discussions, recognise manipulation techniques, disinformation, and confirmation bias (Critical Thinking); - effectively search for and ethically use information sources to create media content (Information Literacy); - create visually appealing presentations with a clear central message using modern software, engage with an audience, and manage stressful situations (Oral Communication); - write clear and engaging texts (copywriting) tailored to the chosen platform and specific target audience (Written Communication); - represent themselves and their institution professionally and master the basics of social etiquette (Professional Conduct).
