The aim of the course is to: 1. Present the concept of philosophical care for the soul in Socrates and Plato, based on primary literature (Plato), as a fundamental factor in achieving mental and spiritual health and the "good life"; 2. Explain, using selected secondary literature, the essential importance that such a conception of the "good life" held in antiquity and (in its Christian modality) in the Middle Ages; 3. Present and critically reflect on the thought of Jan Patočka, who considered care for the soul to be the true spiritual foundation of European culture and a form of spiritual life to which we should, in some way, return today.
