Course content
- Catholic penal law. - Procedural law of the Catholic Church. - Matrimonial procedural law. - Historical and contemporary models of church-state relations. - Sources of Czech religion law. - Fundamentals of concordat law. - Sources of Czech religion law. - Registration of churches and religious societies and their associations. - Registration of legal entities of churches and religious societies. - Conscientious objections. - Service in public institutions. Church medical and social institutions. - Marriage and family in the Czech religion law. - Education. - Media. The student organizes his/her studies based on the study materials and instructions in the LMS; he/she participates in tutorials and completes short tests.

Learning outcomes
A basic overview of the most important areas of Part 2 of the Canon law of the Latin Catholic Church and also the religion law of the Czech Republic, with a focus on practical application. Areas covered: penal law of the Catholic Church, procedural law, especially matrimonial procedural law, models of church-state relations, basics of concordat law. Czech religion law: registration of churches and religious societies, service in public institutions, conscientious objections.
Detailed orientation in the canon law of the Catholic Church and in Czech state law concerning the life and activities of churches and religious societies (in Czech religion law).
Prerequisites
To study this course, knowledge of Part 1 of canon law covered in the bachelor's degree program is required, as well as basic knowledge of dogmatic and moral theology, especially ecclesiology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Written exam

An oral colloquium at the end of the semester will test whether the student is able to discuss the topics covered with understanding, interpret historical approaches appropriately, and reflect independently on such open-ended issues. The assessment of the colloquium will also take into account the score of the LMS midterm tests.
