The course introduces students to the methods and procedures of biblical exegesis applied to selected texts of the Old Testament. Students are expected to have a general ability to navigate the original biblical text (the ability to read, recognize basic grammatical forms, and look up word meanings in a dictionary). Students learn to work independently with the biblical text and to develop their own critical approach to scholarly literature and commentaries. The course includes analyses of specific pericopes. The subject primarily develops competencies necessary for pastoral work with biblical texts, while also indicating the basic approaches to academic research.
