Course content
|
1. An introduction to relevant supplementary literature (critical editions of the New Testament; supplementary materials: dictionaries and grammars) 2. An explanation of Greek morphology (nouns, adjectives: the 3rd declension; an overview of Greek pronouns; verbal morphology: the indicative, infinitive and imperative of the aorist, perfect and pluperfect of vowel- and consonant-stem verbs); contracted verbs; participles and their usage 3. Reading, translation, commentary and discussion of selected simple texts from the New Testament

Learning outcomes
|
The course focuses on the study of New Testament Greek. Students will be introduced to the more advanced grammatical structures of the language (morphology and syntax) and guided towards reading simple New Testament texts independently with the aid of a dictionary.
Students will gain a basic understanding of the grammatical structure of New Testament Greek and the further knowledge required to read Greek texts from the New Testament independently.

Prerequisites
|
A basic knowledge of New Testament Greek, equivalent to the scope of the KBV/DTZNR course, and an interest in reading the New Testament in the original language are required.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral exam, Dialog
Active approach of the student to teaching and ability to translate easy Greek text with the help of a dictionary.
