The basis of the course is an investigation of the multicellular organism as a system made up of cells, which are in mutual relations and which cooperate. A more detailed perspective of tumours and their general characteristics makes possible a deeper understanding and insight into the principles and rules which cells need to maintain in order for a multicellular organism as a system to function and prosper. The content of the particular lectures will be gradual clarification of the particular characteristics typical for tumours. This will increase awareness of some of the important principles of the functioning of a healthy multicellular organism and is a starting point for seeking out parallels and extrapolation of these principles and their applicability in our systems, for example, in human society.
