The aim of the course is to provide students of the Social and Humanitarian Work program with a basic overview of the development of social work and its legitimacy. The goal is for students to: adopt the values of social work and acquire its basic ethical principles including terminology, understand the main schools of thought influencing the development of social work, be familiar with theoretical models relevant to social work, and become acquainted with the basic methods and techniques used in social work practice. The objective is to develop the ability to establish a professional relationship between the social worker and the client based on dignity, acceptance, and empathy.
